The Nervous System
Functions
The Nervous System is responsible for control of your body and communication among the different parts. Your spinal chord and brain are where information from your sensory nerves and organs about your body is evaluated and your decisions are made. Efferent nerves send signals and orders from your brain and spinal chord to your organs and other body parts.
The Main Parts
The Nervous System consists mainly of the brain, spinal chord, sensory organs, and all the nerves in your body, and they all have a crucial role in controlling our body and communicating with different parts.
Working With Other Body Systems
In order to keep our body alive and healthy, our body systems of different functions work together. Two of the many body systems that the Nervous System works with are the Muscular and Circulatory Systems. The Nervous System works with the Muscular by sending commands through the nerves to the muscles, telling them when to contract and relax in order to move the way we want. The Nervous System works with the Circulatory by sending commands to the heart through the nerves, telling how and when to pump blood in order to meet the body's needs.

Fun Facts
We have more nerve cells in our brain than stars in the whole Milky Way Galaxy!
If we lined up all the neurons in our body, it would be over 600 miles long!
There are about 13.5 billion neurons in our spinal chord!
